Legendary actress Katlego Danke has bagged a new gig after the end of Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Gomora. Danke will star as Emma in the new Showmax thriller The Butcher’s Soul.
Danke played the lead role of Thati and made an unexpected exit in the third season of the drama series. She left the show after she discovered that she was pregnant, and opened up earlier this year about her pregnancy.
The Butcher’s Soul thriller is about a butcher who is granted seven days by the “Angel of Death” to bring her guilty souls in exchange for his daughter’s life.
Star-studded cast and production team
The thriller is directed by Kagiso Samuel Leburu, who won the Made for TV Film Safta for his debut feature, Okae Molao. And also debuted Month End at Durban International Festival this month. Four-time Safta winner Adze Ugah from Shaka iLembe is the stunt director.
Taking to her social media pages, Danke expressed how she was both excited and anxious about her new role.

“Never have I been so anxious and excited to see the finished product as I was with this production. The work was grueling but such a pleasure. I really am embarrassed to say I enjoyed every single minute. It felt like a guilty indulgence.
“Again, my hat goes off to the crew and staff who made the experience an effortless joy. Reminded me of why I started acting in the first place. Thank you to @leburugraphy and the whole team for a memorable shoot,” she wrote.
The thriller will also star thespians such as Melusi Mbele, who is the lead character. Vuyo Dabula and the likes of Zinhle Mabena and Bokang Phelane also star in the new show.
