Media personality Khanyi Mbau will host the second annual Basadi In Music Awards at the Joburg Theatre on August 12.
The awards will be a celebration of women for their outstanding contributions as musicians, producers, and other industry professionals.
Nominees for the 2023 event were announced during a star-studded brunch hosted by Tumelo Candice Modiselle on June 29.
In addition to the nominees, Basadi in Music Awards has announced the recipients of two special award categories – the CEO’s Mosadi in Business Award which acknowledges women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and resilience in their respective ventures.
The award will be presented to Nhlanhla Mafu, Thando Thabethe, and Boity Thulo.
Another special category is Mosadi in Music in Africa Award which will be presented to Berita, Maleh, Mpho Sebina, and Sefa. These women have made significant contributions to the music scene in their respective countries.
Joburg City Theatres CEO Xoliswa Nduneni-Ngema said their excitement knows no bounds after Mbau was announced as the host of the event.
“Her passion for entertaining and connecting with people is truly inspiring, and we are honoured to have her leading the way,” said Nduneni-Ngema.
