The memorial service of the late flamboyant DiepCity actress Lettie Lebogang Mpyana is set to take place on Thursday at the Library Gardens Auditorium in Polokwane.
Mpyana’s family made the announcement on her social media pages. The family shared that through her art she touched many souls and warmed many hearts.
“Her creativity will live on in the beauty she left behind. Let’s come together to commemorate a life well lived. Kindly note that the venue has limited seating capacity. The service will be streamed live through Mahuma Group Facebook account,” reads the statement.
The news of her death was made last week Tuesday and it was said she died after a short illness. Mpyana was known as loudmouth and gossipmonger Khelina on the now-canned drama series.
The family shared the news of the 34-year-old’s death on social media. The family spokesperson urged fans to keep the family in their prayers.
Khelina set up Mpyana’s comedy career
She shared that her funny character landed her stand-up comedy gigs in Moletjie and GaMatlala, rural areas outside the city of Polokwane in Limpopo during the festive season.
These marked her first comedy shows and she believed it was the start to a new career path.
Lebogang Mpyana said at the time all would have not been possible had it not been for a shot at fame DiepCity afforded her.
“I have played Khelina to the best of my ability. I don’t do much when playing the character because the character is my aunt. With the show coming to an end, everyone should expect the Khelina who is funnier than ever because I promised myself to give it my best shot,” said Mpyana at the time.
