Legendary television actor -Sello Maake kaNcube has sold the luxury vehicle that formed part of the estate he is supposed to divide with estranged wife Pearl Mbewe. The controversial thespian has also informed Mbewe that she will not receive a dime from the R1.25-million that they were supposed to have received from his ex-girlfriend, KwaZulu-Natal woman.
He also instructed her to resign from their two companies, namely Tap Roots Projects and Sello Maake KaNcube Holdings, and threatened to remove her if she did not comply with his demand.
The theatre doyen also demanded that Mbewe hand over his social media credentials so that he could start to manage his account on his own.
News that Maake kaNcube was dissipating the assets of their estate and forcing Mbewe to walk out of their failed marriage empty-handed was revealed in a letter that the actor’s lawyers, Van der Merwe & Associates Incorporated, sent to Mbewe’s lawyers, De Lange & Moolman Incorporated.
In the letter, which Sunday World has seen, the law firm’s lawyer, Gert van der Merwe, stated that Maake kaNcube had disposed of the Mercedes-Benz C200 Coupe because he wanted money to pay for his needs.
“Our client disposed of this vehicle in January 2025 in order to provide for his own living expenses. Your client’s shenanigans caused our client’s income to dry up, resulting in him disposing of assets to pay for his living expenses.
“The vehicle is, therefore, not an item due for discussion or consideration in divorce proceedings. As a result of the aforesaid, I am of the view that the divorce proceedings can simply be settled on the basis that a decree of divorce be granted and no order pertaining to the division of the accrual,” reads the letter.
The letter also stated that Mbewe will not receive moolah from the KZN woman’s settlement.
The KZN woman and Maake kaNcube, drifted apart over a decade ago after receiving money from the National Lottery Commission.
The KZN woman did not give the actor his share of the grant, and after Mbewe’s alleged intervention, a settlement agreement was reached for the actor to receive his share of the grant in tranches. The KZN woman paid some of the funds to the actor and was supposed to pay the last instalment in December last year.
But now the actor says Mbewe is not entitled to any cent from the last portion of the quantum.
“It is common cause that Sello would have received an amount of R1 250 000.00 at the end of December 2024 in terms of the settlement concluded with [the KZN woman].
“Pearl will be aware of the fact that Werksmans Attorneys (representing the KZN woman) dispatched a letter on December 10 2024, in which they cancelled the settlement agreement and advised that the balance payment due on December 31 2024 will not be made. As a consequence, this payment was not received and cannot be considered for purposes of any settlement proposal,” stated the letter.
The former Generations and Skeem Saam actor does not only want his wife to walk out of their union empty-handed; he also wants to remove her from their entities.
“Your client is a director on Tap Roots Projects (Pty) Ltd and Sello Maake ka Ncube Holdings (Pty) Ltd). In addition to the aforesaid, we are advised that your client holds a third of the issued shares in the aforesaid entities,” reads the letter.
“These entities are, for all intents and purposes, dormant and without value. Our proposal would be that your client resigns as a director from the boards of both companies and relinquishes her shares in favour of our client. If your client refuses to resign as director, we hold instructions to remove her in accordance with the provisions of the Companies Act.”
The former Scandal actor also wants Mbewe to hand over his social media log in credentials.
“Your client is in possession of the necessary passwords and details in order for our client to access and/or amend the details of his social media platforms. Our client has the right to demand that your client provide him with the passwords in order for him to make his own arrangements and manage his own social platforms. Your client is requested to ensure that you furnish us with the password(s) in order for him to access and manage his own social media platforms,” reads the letter.
He also wants Mbewe to hand over the spare key of his car.
“A last aspect that we wish to address is the fact that your client took the spare key of our client’s Porsche Cayenne. She took the key from our client’s home on October 7 2024. If there are any further aspects pertaining to any of the aforesaid issues, you are welcome to engage with me.
“I believe we are now at a juncture where all of the aforesaid disputes are due for finalisation,” further reads the letter.
