Makhadzi accuses lover of GBV: ‘I was beaten like a dog’

I BET Award winner and songstress Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, known popularly as Makhadzi, has taken to Facebook to accuse her boyfriend of assaulting her. Makhadzi has further stated that her life is in danger.

However, critics have downplayed her plight, accusing her of making a publicity stunt ahead of her new album release.

The Matorokisi hitmaker recently shared a video, accusing her ex-boyfriend of physically assaulting her.

Revealed physical scar

In the clip she posted on Wednesday evening, Makhadzi revealed a scar on her forehead.

“Can you see this? I was beaten like a dog. When I asked him why he was beating me, he said it was so I could be uglier, even worse. People must know the truth. There’s someone I loved, and he also loved me, but he beat me like a dog.”

She also shared pictures of herself with bruises as proof of the abuse.

In a series of Facebook posts she posted on Thursday morning, she indicated that her life is in danger. She said that is why she decided to expose it now.

Her messages read: “I was beaten like a chicken on Christmas Day. I will tell my story. Just know that my album, #OneWomanStanding, is coming. And it might be my last because they’ll kill me the moment I expose them. This album holds many secrets. I chose to reveal these secrets because I love music. Just say RIP now, because I know I’m revealing a lot, I’m digging my own grave.

Fears for her life

“They said if I speak out, they’ll frame me and have me arrested because they have power. I’m ready to be arrested. I’m ready. GBV (Gender-Based Violence) is not a joke , I nearly died today. Zwiafana vho.

“I’m here, ready and without fear. Ready to die. Because living with the secret that someone nearly killed me hurts more than anything. He beat me to impress his family. And what shocked me most is that a woman stood by, watching me being beaten like a dog and she laughed.”

She later shared a photo of a lady.

“This is the lady who laughed at me while I was being beaten. She even said that, from what she knows of him, he did nothing wrong. I should have woken up, Dad.”

On Thursday, June 26, she added: “Whatever I posted wasn’t a mistake. I only deleted some pictures to avoid getting blocked by Facebook. And  will go live today at 18:00 to explain everything.

“I know many people will judge me, but I’ve made peace with that. As I speak, I don’t even know whether I should stand or sit because of how badly I was beaten. But telling my story will open other people’s eyes.”

The video and messages have sparked mixed reactions on social media. While many fans have rallied behind her, expressing shock and calling for justice, others have questioned the timing of the post. They suggest it may be linked to marketing efforts for her upcoming project.

‘Boyfriend’ mum on matter

As of now, there has been no official statement from her ex-boyfriend regarding the allegations. She has also deleted all the posts that were suggesting abuse on her life.

Sunday World also tried to reach out to Makhadzi, her manager and her friends, but their phones rang unanswered.

It remains to be seen whether Makhadzi will go live at 18:00 as promised.
