Controversial Limpopo musician Shebeshxt has dodged the bullet as the Lebowakgomo regional court dropped gun-pointing charges against him.
The charges were provisionally withdrawn when Shebeshxt, born Lehlogonolo Chauke, appeared at the same court on Friday.
Dubbed the bad boy of Bolo house music and amapiano due to his clashes with the law, Shebeshxt took to his social media pages to express excitement over the charges being withdrawn.
“I was in court. The charges relating to me pointing people with guns have been dropped. I am not sure how that happened but they have been dropped,” he said.
Shebeshxt was charged with two counts of discharging a firearm after he allegedly fired shots in the air at a family home in Ga-Mamaola village, Limpopo on April 10.
However, he still faces other charges, which include assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and attempted murder.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Limpopo spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, told Sunday World that Chauke is set to return to the same court on December 12.
“The case was postponed to 12 December 2023 for trial,” she said.
Shebeshxt spent close to four months in jail for alleged violent spats in the Lebowakgomo area in April. He was released from prison in July.
This after he allegedly stabbed two people in separate incidents last year. In the first case, he allegedly stabbed the complainant once in the back with a knife. In the second case, he allegedly stabbed the second complainant with a knife three times on his lower left arm, back of the neck, and next to his ribs.
Shebeshxt, also known as President Ya Ma2K, is popular among the youth for his music, which often includes violent lyrics and intimidation towards his rivals.
