Musician Zulu Boy lauds Zuma’s support for artists, backs MK Party

Renowned artist and leader of the uMkhonto weSizwe Creatives, Mxolisi “Zulu Boy” Majozi, has expressed gratitude towards the former administration of President Jacob Zuma for their dedication to supporting artists in South Africa.

Zulu Boy commended Zuma’s efforts in championing the interests of the creative community during his tenure.

He highlighted Zuma’s initiative in rallying his cabinet to address the challenges faced by artists. This resulted in the formulation of the Copyrights Amendment Bill.

This legislation aimed to enhance the protection and rights of artists. However, Zulu Boy raised concerns over the inclusion of the Fair Use clause. He believes it undermines artists’ ability to receive fair compensation, particularly for educational purposes.

Called on the youth to participate in shaping own future

“Fair Use states that you as an artist will not be paid by government if they use your material for educational purposes. If our government is not paying us as the artists who’s going to pay the artist,” he said.

“The [National Council Oof Provinces] has adopted the bill. But we are saying President [Cyril] Ramaphosa must not sign it.”

Addressing the youth, he emphasised the importance of active participation in shaping their future. He urged young South Africans to engage in the democratic process and support initiatives that cater to their interests. The artist emphasised the need for diverse representation in policymaking.

Durban socialite on board MK Party

Meanwhile, popular Durban socialite and influencer Ntombeningi Sithole also endorsed the MK Party. The outspoken influencer said Zuma is a champion for artists’ rights and a safe haven for the LGBTQ+ community. Sithole refuted past allegations of homophobia against Zuma. The socialite stated that his personal interactions revealed a warm and welcoming demeanour.

Zuma reportedly clarified any misunderstandings and extended an invitation for the LGBTQ+ community to join the MK Party. He promised improved representation.

In response to criticisms regarding Zuma’s past statements, Sithole reassured the public of Zuma’s sincerity. The socialite emphasised the positive interactions experienced firsthand.

“The response I got from him personally, not over the phone but speaking face to face, was amazing,” Sithole affirmed.

Sithole’s endorsement further solidifies the perception of the MK Party as an inclusive and supportive political entity. It is garnering favour among artists and marginalised communities alike.
