Never be a slave to money, cautions reformed Nonhle Thema

Media personality and actress Nonhle Thema has opened up about some of the mistakes she committed while in her 20s.

Thema, who is now aged 41, rose to prominence quickly but the limelight almost ruined her profession. She went on to live her best life abroad in Los Angeles in the US.

Later in life, Thema suffered a meltdown when she went on a rant on Twitter, an episode that ruined her reputation.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the media personality took to her social media to share that her mindset has since transformed.

“Wish I was still chasing after money like I was in my 20s, now my mind is different,” she wrote.

Thema narrated how she lost her soul because of money and fame, saying she had to let it all go so she could live again.

She described it as a painful process but one that was worth it.

The actress also opened up about her late legendary journalist father Derrick Thema, and how having money was not a new thing to her.

“My father was very wealthy. I grew up in money, I mean it was not new to me but when I made my own money, I turned to be something else,” she wrote.

“Never be a slave to money. I think I was always trying to prove to my dad that I was worthy, now I know better. Money is to serve me, not the other way around.”

Thema shared that she has now given her life to God and is dedicated to Jesus after she made a mistake of making herself her own idol.

She added that the healing process is a journey that she hopes to overcome.
