Pearl Modiadie makes big comeback on new TV drama

Media personality Pearl Modiadie is over the moon about her new gig on a daily drama series Redemption on BET Africa.

“Back on your screens and honoured to be part of a stellar cast of an all-new daily drama,” a thrilled Modiadie wrote on her social media account.

The drama series is produced by Paramount Africa in partnership with Matsimela Films, a merger between Seriti Films and Burnt Onion Productions.

Joining her is a stellar cast that includes veterans Themba Ndaba, Tina Jaxa, Sthandiwe Kgoroge, Seputla Sebogodi, Yonda Thomas, Kwanele Mthethwa, Sparky Xulu, and newcomers Nkone Mamejta and Toka Mtabane, among others.

Redemption is set in a mega church and centres revolves around the Zikode family.

After the disappearance of pastor Simon Zikode, his daughter Faith, who is on the cusp of an international music career, drops everything to come to her family’s rescue. Faith, however, gets caught up in the church organisation and family affairs, and uncovers devastating secrets about those closest to her.

Monde Twala, senior vice-president of editorial and general manager at Paramount Africa, and peer lead for BET International, said: “Our mission at BET Africa is to engage the black community and truly drive black excellence in our industry and through the stories we tell.

“The team behind this BET Africa original is exceptional, and the production companies behind this project are noteworthy and deliver world-class productions.”

Leanne Kumalo, Seriti Films managing director and executive producer, said: “We are very enthusiastic about our collaboration with Burnt Onion and Paramount Africa and strongly believe the co-production has elevated the project.

“Together we have been able to add something dynamic to the industry.”

Redemption will air on September 26 and is set to re-air on e.tv later in the year.
