Phumeza Shoba dumps cheating husband Mnqobi

The 11-year-old marriage between popular house music singer Mnqobi Shoba and revered actress Phumeza Shoba is on the brink of reaching a coda.

Sunday World can exclusively reveal that Phumeza has dumped Shoba like an obsolete music instrument after -accusing him of adultery and emotional and psychological abuse.

The startling tidbits were revealed by sources close to the couple, who did not want to be identified for fear of victimisation.

The deep throats, who are privy to the estranged two lovebirds’ private lives, said Phumeza kicked Mnqobi to the kerb in July this year, and the thespian has informed the artist she wants out of their union, and has already instructed her lawyers to file for divorce.

The mole said that Phumeza, who acted in SABC1’s drama Sokhulu and Partners, alleged that Shoba, who shot to stardom with the blockbuster ditty Uyangicomela, which he did with the music hybrid Shana, cheated on her and emotionally and psychologically abused her.

“Phumeza said Mnqobi cheated on her, and that was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. She tried to forgive him but she found it impossible because he had betrayed her trust.

“You see, when you cheat, other women can forgive you, but Phumeza is unfortunately not one of those,” said the tipster.

The informant said before the infidelity allegations, the two lovers often quarrelled a lot in their union.

“They differed a lot about how a marriage should exist. They also could not meaningfully or constructively engage in a conversation about it,” said the source.

The source further said initially Phumeza contacted Mnqobi and tried in vain to separate from him amicably without involving lawyers, but he did not cooperate. “That made things worse because Phumeza felt that he did not take her efforts to part ways amicably seriously, and as a result, she would not settle for mediation once she had kick-started the divorce.

“We just hope that it does not get messy because they still live together even though Mnqobi is currently out of the country. He leaves the country between April and October every year, and we hope that when he returns they will find each other and resolve their differences.”

The source alleged that Phumeza told them that if they parted amicably, she would want them to equally share the residue of their estate, which includes, among others, Porsche and Volvo SUVs, which are the assets they collectively accumulated since they entered into an out-of-community-of-property-with-accrual agreement in 2014.

The source also said Phumeza indicated that she would also want him to pay her R45 000 in spousal maintenance per month plus R5 000 towards the upbringing of their partially blind child. Phumeza feigned surprise when we asked her about the separation. “No its not true,” she claims. Attempts to solicit comments from Mnqobi drew a blank.
