Actress and content creator Lerato Nxumalo will be making her last appearance on e.tv’s Scandal! on Friday night.
A couple of months ago Nxumalo revealed to her followers and fans that she was officially unemployed. She shared that she would be taking her content creator career on a full-time basis. But she also hinted that she could return to acting.
Scandal! has confirmed that Nxumalo, who played the role of Phakamile Mdletshe, Jojo Kubeka’s lover, will be moving on to pursue other ventures.
Adventurous role
The character of Phakamile was introduced to the show when she was prostituting herself. She was trying to provide for her two siblings Mbuso and Nqobile. But that soon ended when she met Jojo Kubeka, and they both fell in love.
Phakamile did not become a trophy girlfriend when she got into a relationship with Jojo. She still kept her independence by finding work at Uthuli waste. This was so that she could continue to look after her siblings.
Her natural instinct to be a care giver was also the reason that ended her fairy tale relationship with Jojo. This happened when she tried to help Jojo get out of debt problems.
Nxumalo expressed: “Playing Phakamile has been such a beautiful experience. I enjoyed every single moment because I feel like I grew so much. Working with the team that successfully grew me as an actor has been such an honour. Thank you so much to Ochre Media and e.tv. For the growth opportunity that you guys have given me.
Part of an amazing team
“For all that you guys have done for me, I am very very much appreciative. I wish Scandal! all the best and I’m so glad to have been a part of this amazing winning team.”
Sanele Zulu, Series Producer of Scandal Production Team, said working with Nxumalo has left them craving for more. But sometimes in most cases than not, the story pushes you in a direction that you might have not anticipated.
“Thank you, Lerato, for doing a fantastic job in portraying Phakamile and sharing you time with us at Scandal! Your talent is undeniable. We wish Nxumalo all the best for the future,” said Zulu.
