Rapper Shebeshxt due in court on Thursday amid new scandals

Limpopo rapper Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke will be appearing on Thursday at the Lebowakgomo Regional Court for a plea and trial. Chauke will be appearing for an attempted murder case that was referred to the Regional Court in 2024.

He recently made waves and is back in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons following a viral video that surfaced on Sunday, May 18, 2025, showing him attempting to stab a fan with a large knife during a heated argument at an undisclosed nightclub.

The disturbing footage, widely shared on X, captures Shebeshxt in a verbal confrontation that escalates when he pulls out a huge “Rambo knife” and swings at a seated patron, who scrambles to escape.

Widespread condemnation

While it’s unclear if the knife made contact, the incident has sparked widespread condemnation and renewed scrutiny of the rapper’s volatile behaviour.

The video, described as “shocking” by netizens, shows another individual attempting to intervene. And Shebeshxt’s aggression escalates.

Social media reactions are mixed: some, like @MahlalelaRSA, appear to sensationalise the incident. Others, including @_ShaunKeyz, slam the rapper. He said: “The biggest mistake we made as a country was making this guy famous.”

Critics argue Shebeshxt’s history of violence including slapping fans, pointing firearms, and a 2022 attempted murder charge for a stabbing in Lebowakgomo — shows a pattern that demands accountability.

History of violence

However, some fans defend him, claiming the video lacks context. They claim that the fan may have provoked him, a narrative Shebeshxt has pushed in past incidents.

In a 2024 altercation where he slapped a fan, he claimed that fans were throwing bottles at his car. Still, the severity of wielding a knife has led to calls for his arrest. X users are  comparing the incident to cases like Chris Brown’s legal troubles.

This incident comes as Shebeshxt attempts a comeback after a tragic 2024 car accident that killed his daughter and left him with physical and financial scars.

His recent performances and music hinted at a more reflective side. However, this video suggests his temper remains a liability.
