‘Sizok’thola’ presenter Xolani Khumalo to appear in court for murder

Sizok’thola presenter Xolani Khumalo is set to appear at the Palm magistrate’s court on Tuesday for a charge of murder.

Khumalo handed himself over at the Katlehong North police station on Tuesday morning.

In a statement released by his foundation, The Xolani Khumalo Foundation, the Moja Love presenter was advised to hand himself over.

“The South African Police Service has requested that Xolani Khumalo hand himself over in connection with an incident that occurred at one of the last drug busts. Xolani Khumalo and the team operated according to the strictest standards of professionalism when engaged in securing accountability from those that sell drugs and choose to harm communities,” the statement read.

In July, the presenter was placed at the centre of the death of an alleged drug dealer, Robert “Kicks” Varrie, who died shortly after a visit from Khumalo and his television crew while filming an episode of Sizok’thola.

Khumalo shared the experience on his social media page when he handed himself to the police.

Moja Love spokesperson Nonzwakazi Cekete confirmed that the channel was informed that Khumalo will be handing himself over to the police on Tuesday morning.

“We are aware that he is handing himself to the police and the matter is sub-judice and we will await the outcome of the court,” Cekete said.
