Thabiso Tema, Tessa Dooms swap shows amid Power FM reshuffle

Power FM 98.7 has reshuffled its line-up following the resignation of radio personality Pabi Moloi a month ago.

Moloi took over the Power Lunch after Faith Mangope left the station for Metro FM in 2023. Her resignation has since prompted some changes to the station’s line-up.

The changes, which will take effect on September 1, will see seasoned broadcaster Thabiso Tema swapping shows with Tessa Dooms.

With a career spanning over two decades, Tema will return to host Power Breakfast from 6am to 9am.

Ndlozi not affected

Tema was moved from the breakfast show, which he had hosted since 2021, to the evening slot on Power Perspective in February 2025

At the time, the football commentator said he welcomed the changes in the new schedule, as this would allow him more time to spend with his family.

However, with the new changes, he returns to the breakfast show.

Political analyst and sociologist Dooms will move to Power Perspective on weeknights, running from 8pm until midnight.

The changes will not affect former EFF MP Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, who will continue with Power Talk.

Kwena Moabelo will take over the Power Lunch from Moloi, and Thabiso Kotane will remain on the Power Drive, while Tehillah Niselow stays on Power Business.

Neo Leeuw, the head of programming, said the station has always been about giving listeners voices that matter and conversations that count.

“This new line-up continues that tradition,” said Leeuw.

Drastic changes introduced

In the past two years, the Gauteng commercial radio station has made some drastic changes to its line-up, with Ndlozi leaving politics to pursue a career as a talkshow host.

Listeners responded positively to the former EFF spokesperson’s shift in March. The estimated listenership of Power FM currently stands at 280 000.

TV and radio host Moloi recently served her notice at Power FM, after spending 12 years with the station.

The 41-year-old handed in her resignation, bidding the station farewell from her leading lunchtime show. “I resigned from Power FM last month,” she said.

Without elaborating further, she stated a new chapter is lurking. “I look forward to this next chapter.”

The station confirmed that the line-up changes will be effective in September.
