Black Motion’s split has turned ugly after their boss opened a case of housebreaking and theft against the duo’s former member Bongani “ Murdah” Mahosana at Olievenhoutbosch police station, north of Johannesburg, on Thursday.
Moses Nkia Mokgoko, who owns Black Motion’s record label, popularly known as Spirit Motion, alleged Murdah, who recently left the duo to pursue a solo career, broke into their Centurion house, which they use as an office and studio, on Thursday and took studio monitors, a television set, computer hard drives and mixing desk.
According to a source who is close to the artists, Murdah vacated the property, bought by him, fellow member Thabo “Smol” Mabogwane and Mokgoko, and went to live with his girlfriend and the mother of his child, DJ Zinhle.
Our source said Mokgoko discovered the forced entry to the house when he arrived on Thursday, and realised the door to the bedroom of Black Motion’s new member, Kabelo “Problem Child” Koma, was broken and the room trashed.
“This is not the first time he did this. A few weeks ago, he allegedly went to the house and trashed it. He then went into the studio and allegedly deleted some of the songs Smol and Problem Child had recorded. Thereafter he allegedly took Thabo’s passport and left,” said our informant.
“After some discussions with him they decided to let it slide and not press charges. They instead changed the door locks.”
Our source further said Murdah broke down the doors because he wanted to gain access to the house to take the studio equipment. “When he allegedly did this, they were out, performing at a gig.”
The source’s information was corroborated in a police statement we have seen.
Mokgoko also confirmed he had opened a case of malicious damage to property against Murdah. “The case has been opened and is being handled by the police,” he said.
Murdah declined to comment and referred us to his lawyer, Neo Mashele.
Murdah’s legal representative, Mashele, said it didn’t make sense to allege his client broke into his own house.
“We cannot comment at the moment because we are not aware of any case that has been opened against him,” he said.
Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Col Noxolo Kweza confirmed Mokgoko has opened a case against Mahosana, but no arrest had been made.
