Tshatha Ngobe finally gets to cast his vote for the first time

Ukhozi FM drive-time presenter and actor Khathide Tshatha Ngobe was beaming with excitement after casting his vote for the first time.

Ngobe had already missed four consecutive years of national elections since 2004, when he was 22 years old.

On Wednesday, he explained that he was part of the Jehovah’s Witness Church all his life, which does not allow its members to participate in politics.

Ngobe alleged that leaving the church has made him realise that many of the church rules do not correlate with the Bible.

The church is the truth

“The rules are implemented by the leaders of the church, who are referred to as the governing body based in America,” wrote Ngobe.

“They then implement the rules into the church, which favours them, as if the Bible states these rules.

“The rule not to participate in elections is one of the rules that are the pillars of the church, stating that it [the church] is the truth.”

He stated that the church made him miss out on a lot of things in life, and if he were not stubborn or determined about his life, he would have never been a radio presenter.

“The church states that being famous or popular is wrong for someone who is within the church.

“There are many people in the church who are talented but are not allowed to reach their full potential because the rules of the church dictate so.”

He defied the rules and did not care about being in high positions in the church because he was adamant about pursuing his dream.

Ngobe warned people about the dangers of associating themselves with his former church.

Prohibited from voting

In 2023, Sunday World reported that Ngobe was prohibited from voting.

As a result, the Woza Nabangani Bakho (come and join us with your friends) afternoon-drive show host had never voted in the past.

Ngobe initially criticised Serena Williams, the illustrious American tennis player, for her recent conversion to Jehovah’s Witnesses, saying it was a poor choice.

Ngobe left the church bitter after his former pastor refused to officiate at his cousin’s funeral.

The pastor gave many reasons that led Ngobe to leave the Jehovah’s Witnesses during a live interview with BK Mchunu three years ago.

One of the leaders of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness Church, Eugene Naidoo, said at the time that he was unable to comment.

  1. What Tshatha is saying is misleading the ignorant and he knows it. THe Jehovah’s Witnesses organization has no laws that prohibits members from doing or not doing anything. Members are governed by their Bible trained conscience on such matters.
About the issue of Politics and Christians, all secualr sources attest to the fact that early Christians, or 1st century Christians, never participated in politics of the day. They respected the law, paid taxes, but never took oath of offices. Were they also “misled” by the American Governing Body? You be the judge.
