Xolile Tshabalala joins ‘Skeem Saam’ to spice up court drama

Actress Xolile Tshabalala is one of the newest additions to SABC1’s weekday soapie Skeem Saam.

Born in Vrede in the Free State, Tshabalala will portray the role of a prosecutor in Leeto Maputla’s case.

The seasoned actress graduated from the National School of the Arts with honours and went on to feature in many productions including Soul City, Generations, and Good Men.

In 2005, she took a break from acting and relocated to the US to attend classes at the New York Film Academy.

Upon her return to the country in 2010, Tshabalala played the role of Noma in 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls before landing a role as Mandi Mbalula in Fallen, a 2011 drama series.

Taking to social media on Thursday, she said she hopes the viewers will enjoy her craft as she joins the popular show.

“Rumour has it I will be on Skeem Saam soon. Hope you enjoy it,” she wrote.

Leeto is on trial for the murder of Dragon, a notorious loan shark whom he shot when he held the patrons of Bazaruto hostage.

Leeto tries to rally credible witnesses as his trial approaches, and his freedom hangs in the balance. He stands a chance of making it out of the trial unscathed thanks to his legal eagle advocate Moss.

However, the state also possesses superior representation in the form of a prosecutor who is determined to put Leeto behind bars for the murder of Dragon.

Tshabalala will make her debut on Monday and will be on air throughout the trial.
