Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt after two men were fatally shot in Kurhula Village in the Lulekani policing area on Friday night.
Police received reports of gunfire at about 9.10pm. According to preliminary information, the victims were travelling in a vehicle when they stopped at a residence. They were ambushed by a gunmen, allegedly positioned near a shop under construction.
The suspect opened fire on the victims before fleeing the scene on foot.
Emergency personnel and SAPS officers arrived to find both victims, aged around 30 years, inside the vehicle with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. They were declared dead at the scene. Authorities have since confirmed the identities of the deceased.
A case of two counts of murder has been opened. The motive for the killings remains unclear and investigations are ongoing.
Police have appealed to the public for assistance in tracking down the suspect.
