An investigation is under way after a learner from Dinokaneng Secondary School in Vanderbijlpark in the Vaal was killed during a scholar transport accident on Wednesday.
Three other learners were admitted to the hospital while another four escaped with minor injuries.
The Gauteng department of education said the accident occurred in the morning at the school hostel pick-up point.
Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi conveyed the department’s condolences to the families of the deceased and injured learners, and the school community at large. He also wished the injured learners speedy recovery.
