According to the results announced on Friday morning, the ANC had 33.37% of the vote in Gauteng, while the DA came in second with 29.07% and the EFF came in third with 12.83%.
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) website shows that by 1.50pm, only 55.63% of the votes in Gauteng had been counted.
This translates to results at 1 556 voting stations having their results already captured out of the 2 797 voting stations in the province.

Results dashboard crashes
Meanwhile, the IEC confirmed that the live election results dashboard on its website crashed on Friday morning.
However, it said the problem has since been corrected without compromising the results already captured.
“The electoral commission confirms that it has experienced interruptions in the replication of data from its national data centre and various results operation centres,” said IEC national spokesperson Kate Bapela.
“The data in the centre remains intact, and the results have not been compromised.
“All services have since been restored, and the leaderboard is working normally. Result processing continues unaffected.”
The ANC was currently in first place with 41.86% of the vote nationally, the DA was second with 22.88%, the MK Party was third with 11.80%, the EFF was fourth with 9.5%, and the IFP was fifth with 2.92%.
The IEC said 27 782 477 people registered to vote.
On Wednesday, millions of South Africans went to cast their votes in South Africa’s 2024 general national and provincial elections.
