Sino ‘Mr Jola’ Msolo taking up space in Amapiano genre

Johannesburg- There’s no doubt that Sino Msolo is taking up space in the amapiano genre.

The Jola hitmaker sat down with Sunday World to share his journey into the music industry and how he merged into amapiano.

24-year-old Sino Msolo hails all the way from Flagstaff in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.

“I grew up like any other black child not rich neither poor but had a decent upbringing. Both my parents are teachers so you can imagine the kind of setup I have at home with my three siblings.”

Sino shares that he really does not have a musical background in his family, but he’s probably the only one who can hold a note decently.

Growing up he was the noisemaker of the family and never imagined he’d make a career out of his noise.

In 2019 Sino shot a video of himself singing, posted it on Twitter, and tagged a few people in the industry.

To his surprise, his talent caught the eye of Sun-El Musician and the rest was history.

“I came up to Joburg and recorded a 16 track Album titled Mamela which was released in November 2019. The album is a mix of a bit of everything but it’s an Afro-Soul album.”

Fast forward to 2021 Sino is now with Top Tier Entertainment and has been doing exceptional things in the amapiano genre.

“I started doing amapiano because I realized how big it was and decided to use that opportunity to better myself as an artist.”

“When I did Jola, I was just merely recording a song and didn’t see much into it but De Mthuda believed that the song was going to be a big hit.”

When asked what is the inspiration behind the songs that he sings, the Jola hitmaker shared that sometimes it’s things that happen to his friends, what he randomly thinks or imagines, and sometimes he dreams about the things he sings about.

“I’m planning to do my own thing because I believe people would love to have something from Sino Msolo, so I plan on releasing something pretty soon. I hope it goes well because I’m one person who’s very particular about what I want.”

“I don’t rely too much on my parents and I believe in being independent, so a challenge that I have faced besides Covid-19, is not being able to do stuff for myself as a person.”

“With music, I had no one to do music with, although people were telling me not to give up and believe in myself. I then worked with the likes of Shimza, Darque, Kabza, De Mthuda, and Musa Keys just to name a few,” he concluded.
