As a social entrepreneur who also supports the national economy, Amanda Nomnqa is driven to make the world a better place. She also works as a facilitator and public speaker professionally. She chairs SheIsBrave, a non-profit organisation that targets girls' and young women's lack of mentoring and empowerment. Nomnqa became renowned for speaking up for young people and promoting gender equality after being chosen to serve as the executive secretary-general of the Rojalnu Africa United Nations Youth Network. As such, she represented the youth agenda in Africa and the diaspora to more than five heads of state and the government and more than 100 leaders. The facilitator was honoured with the Forbes Woman Africa Young Achiever Award in 2022 and was included on the list of the Most Powerful and Influential Africans. She thinks that teachers are where education reform starts to take place. “The shortage of quality teachers and the consequent ongoing delivery of poor educational outcomes are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the challenges facing basic education in South Africa. "When analysing the school system in the country, it is flawed with poorly-performing and unmotivated teachers, poor work ethics, lack of community and parental support, poor control by education authorities, poor support for teachers and very low levels of accountability,” states Nomnqa.
