Project Name/Description:
Kaone Ntlhaile, who hails from Rustenburg in the North West province, says she is passionate about tourism because she wants to nullify the stereotype that travelling is expensive. Ntlhaile established Tholo Tours & Safaris in 2014 with the goal of taking the current state of the tourism industry and growing it outside of South African borders. “Tourism truly broadens one’s horizons. You truly get to see life in a different light other than your every day norm,” she says. According to Ntlhaile, the Department of Tourism has assisted her business with more exposure and marketing. “I now have an international clientele because of the department, which I am truly grateful for.” Ntlhaile adds that Tholo Tours & Safaris was the only female black-owned company selected by the department to represent the North West province under “Hidden Gems” at this year’s World Market Travel in Cape Town. She also took part in this year’s Africa Travel Indaba in Durban. “I am the first black female deputy secretary general of Greater Pilanesberg Tour Operators in Sun City. I recently completed the Nationwide Tour Operator Incubation programme with Sigma international, sponsored by the Department of Tourism,” she states.
