Project Name/Description:
Kyle Brijder is the founder of two innovative tourism ventures, Bag Drop and Gido. Bag Drop, is a last-mile luggage delivery and short-term storage company. He describes the service as an answer to the ‘where can we leave our bags?’ question when waiting for a check-in or flight at the airport. Gido, is a marketplace connecting travellers to relevant, registered tourist guides. “We use a technique called Profile-based Itinerary Creation in which we provide a list of touring suggestions based off a traveller’s profile. On the other side we are creating an algorithm which will equally distribute work opportunities amongst registered freelance tourist guides.” According to Brijder his biggest accolade is being named a Top Innovator in the tourism industry as part of the collaboration between the Department of Tourism and the Technology Innovation Agency. “I am passionate about tourism because it allows people to explore new places and promotes cultural exchange, personal growth and economic benefits.”
