NKHETHOA MOKOENA
Youth in Business and Entrepreneurship
Nominee's Province:
Free State
Age:
33
Project Name/Description:
Dile Events
Sometimes we must turn our backs on what we have studied in order to follow our passions and lead fulfilling lives. This is exactly what Nkhethoa Mokoena did when the idea to start Dile Events hit her. The radiography graduate and entrepreneur has been offering catering, décor and flower arranging to her growing customer base, and there is no turning back. Though she started her entrepreneurial journey offering catering and décor services only, she later added a florist shop upon spotting a gap. “This is a big deal, as the people of Botshabelo are seldom exposed to such,” remarks the proud township florist. Mokoena’s aim is not only to create beautiful events or memories for her clients, but to also offer them a complete and personalised event-planning experience. On winning the war on youth unemployment, the 33-year-old states: “There should be a change of attitude and behaviour.” The youth must be taught personal development and confidence, and those who aspire to be entrepreneurs should be encouraged to start as soon as they discover their drive.
