The love for sharing the knowledge she has about nature and culture, as well as creating unforgettable memories for tourists, is what inspires Nompumelelo Gina. Gina says her business venture, Theo Tours and Culture, offers tourists an authentic Zulu cultural experience by taking them to villages to meet chiefs, traditional healers and more. “We also organise a boat cruise to Lake St Lucia, game drives to both Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park and iSimangaliso Wetland Park, as well as hiking trails and bicycle tours,” she adds. The Department of Tourism assists her business with market access programmes through which she has signed deals with big companies that bring her clients. In 2016, her business partner won the Tourism Lilizela Award for Best Nature Tourist Guide in the province and was the second runner-up for Best Cultural Tourist Guide. Three years later, Gina also won the Tourism Lilizela Award for the Best Cultural Tourist Guide in KZN.
