He’s the founder and principal of Horizon High School, for which he has the vision of building an entrepreneurship school that offers practical experience, mentorship from industry leaders, real-world projects and interdisciplinary learning. Again, he’s authored a high school physical sciences study tool, The Simplified Physics, to change the narrative that the subject is impossible. “Combining my passion for science with my entrepreneurial spirit allows me to inspire and educate others while making a meaningful impact,” Dlembula states. “Seeing young people succeed in their careers under my guidance is the most significant thing that drives my passion,” he adds. Additionally, Dlembula co-created a crime intelligence system aimed at combating rape in his district, illustrating the power of innovation in strengthening the justice system and ensuring closure for victims of sexual assault. Recognised as a rising star, Dlembula is a science facilitator at the South African International Maritime Institute and a teacher at SABC Education, platforms he uses to spread his passion for science. “Investing in scientific research and innovation is crucial for the socioeconomic development of our country,” he says, maintaining that South Africa has what it takes to compete globally in STEM.
