Founder – AgriVuno
Masabata Sebusi is the founder of AgriVuno, through which she strives to empower smallholder farmers from marginalised communities. AgriVuno is committed to providing innovative solutions for the agricultural sector. The company’s recent achievements include launching a female farmer accelerator programme that equipped 50 female farmers with essential skills and insights. “Our goal is to create market access for smallholder farmers and see them as valuable stakeholders in the sustainability of our food systems,” Sebusi reveals. Sebusi’s entrepreneurial journey began at the University of the Free State, where she earned a BCom in Accounting and a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning Law. Her passion for entrepreneurship was ignited through her involvement with Enactus, where she co-founded her first enterprise. “Enactus was a pivotal experience for me. It taught me valuable lessons that have shaped my leadership and entrepreneurial skills,” she relates. Sebusi has received national and international accolades, including the She Awards Agripreneur of the Year under 30 in 2023. She also serves as the African ambassador for World Business Dialogue and the Womenboss Society. Again, she has been recognised as one of News24’s 100 Young Mandelas of the Future. Despite the progress made in the sector, Sebusi acknowledges the challenges faced by South African farmers, including access to capital, resources and technical knowledge. “Climate change and logistical constraints also pose significant risks. However, innovation in agri-tech and sustainable farming practices offer new opportunities.”
