Founder – Horn Peanut Butter
Piet Manaka won’t rest until his peanut butter brand is in every household. Manaka is the owner and founder of Horn Peanut Butter, a company that manufactures delicious peanut butter and makes every slice taste yummy. His passion and drive to start his business were inspired by Robert Kiyosaki, an author known for the bestselling Rich Dad, Poor Dad series. “If it weren't for him and his motivation from his books, I don't know where I would be. He motivated me and taught me about the benefits of being an entrepreneur,” says Manaka. What led Manaka to the industry of manufacturing peanut butter was the gap he saw when comparing other manufacturers of hard peanut butter. “It tears the bread into pieces when being spread, and I told myself that I want to manufacture a peanut butter that is smoother, has a runny consistency, and spreads easily. It can also be used for dipping things like biscuits,” Manaka explains. Manaka’s biggest achievement at the moment is the ability to sell 100 units per month and the fact that he is working hard to access bigger markets. He believes that with South Africa celebrating 30 years of democracy, more can be done to positively contribute to small, medium and micro enterprises by offering skills and business management strategies. “The government also needs to pour out some funds for us to grow our businesses and create employment, as well as contribute towards economic growth,” says Manaka.
