Project Name/Description:
Founder: Chef Jojo’s Afrocentric Wellness Food & Culinary Services
Ncube started his culinary venture in 2024 shortly after graduating from Capsicum Culinary Studio’s Rosebank campus. More than just a business, it’s a passion project rooted in healing, creativity, and culture. “I saw a gap in the industry for food that not only nourishes the body but also feeds the soul,” he says. Chef Jojo’s focus is on offering rich, soulful African cuisine while creating space for emotional and spiritual nourishment. One of his standout initiatives is a home-based food concept called Mogodu (Tripe) Monday, which serves what he describes as “authentic African cuisine infused with wellness-inspired flavours.” “It’s more than just a catering brand. It’s a movement towards mindful eating and cultural appreciation. I want people to eat with intention, to honour their heritage, and to build a healthier relationship with food,” he explains. “Wellness for me isn’t about restriction—it’s about celebrating our traditions in a way that nourishes both body and spirit.” Ncube says the idea for the business was born out of a difficult period in his life. After graduating, he experienced a stretch of unemployment that took a heavy emotional toll. “It became clear that food would be my way of healing—not just for myself, but for others too.”
