Candidate Attorney – DSC Attorneys
Ronewa Khakhu is a candidate attorney at DSC Attorneys, a law firm based in Cape Town. She describes herself as a jack of many traits but simply an inspiration. “What drives my passion in the industry of my focus is the decision I made at the early stages of my life: living to make a difference,” states Khakhu. In June 2023, Khakhu’s efforts in education were recognised by Mail & Guardian, naming her one of the 200 Young South Africans. She was the only undergraduate on the list, reflecting her extraordinary contributions while still in university. According to Khakhu, her role as a Student Councillor at the UP Law Clinic showcases her commitment to social justice, helping indigent individual’s access legal aid without fees. Beyond her legal pursuits, she is passionate about education, assisting high school scholars through her social platforms and helping fellow students secure funds and write appeals against academic exclusions. Khakhu graduated from the AWIEF E-Commerce programmes, was awarded the Tony Elumelu Foundation’s Small Business Management certification, and earned a certificate in teaching English from Arizona State University. Her accolades include being selected for the 2023 Special Edition on RSA Youth in the African International Humanitarian Law Initiative. “Fighting and advocating for justice allows for a platform to make a meaningful difference; and practically advocating for education allows you to make a solid foundation of many potential legacy builders that can restore our country. That is exactly what I live for, being an agent of change.”
