Inspired by her parents’ selflessness, Sthembile Linda knew from an early age that her purpose was to make a difference in her community. “I woke up every day wanting to make at least one person smile,” she shares—a sentiment that has driven her life’s work. Linda’s journey of giving back began in the small town of Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal, where she grew up in a home filled with love and generosity. “From raising funds in primary school to organising charity initiatives across continents, my dedication to philanthropy has been unwavering. My move to the United Kingdom in 2008 marked the beginning of my global perspective, as I raised funds for a child in South Africa’s Genesis Care Centre.” She added that this experience cemented her passion for helping others, and upon returning to South Africa, Linda volunteered at New Beginnings Children’s Home and continued her mission to alleviate hunger and provide support to those in need. “Challenges, particularly funding, have been constant, but my resilience shines through. I knock on every door possible,” she says, emphasising her commitment to securing the resources needed to make a tangible impact. Her work reached new heights with the 2024 Christmas food hamper drive, bringing joy to over 30 homes in the Ugu district. With her faith as her foundation, Linda hopes to leave a legacy of kindness and unity. Through the Linda Legacy Foundation, she envisions expanding beyond KwaZulu-Natal, creating a national movement that fosters a spirit of togetherness, hope, and selfless giving for generations to come.
