“Growth lives in uncomfortable spaces. I began putting myself forward, taking chances, and embracing opportunities, even when I felt unqualified. In doing so, I discovered confidence I never knew I had.” Once Andani Netshisaulu stepped into her own light, she discovered a power and confidence that have made her a standout student at the International Culinary School in Johannesburg. After graduating with a diploma in professional cookery and kitchen management, she was also awarded the Managing Executive’s Award in Hospitality – the highest commendation offered. She also served as the SRC president during her first year. While she presented as a confident, self-assured young woman, Andani says she often held back because fear of rejection and judgment stopped her from accepting new challenges. “From the moment I entered the industry, I knew I had found something special. Hospitality combines creativity, leadership, service, and human connection in a way that few industries can,” she says. “I began putting myself forward, taking chances, and embracing opportunities even when I felt unqualified. In doing so, I discovered confidence I never knew I had. What excites me most is knowing that there is still so much more to explore.”
