The vision was simple: a business directory which would bring creative and media professionals together to amplify opportunities. As a small business owner of a boutique marketing agency, Athi Diko felt the isolation that young business owners in creative spaces have. The Half Full Directory was his brainwave to unite people who found themselves in the same situation. “So far the directory has 500 people on it; it’s basically a networking platform where people can plug in to find talent or jobs, share opportunities and ask for advice,” he says. “So far, people have found internships and job opportunities and it’s been wonderful to see the cross-pollination of skills.” Athi also coordinates regular meetups for creatives to network in person, through healthy activities like hiking or walking. “I realised that mental health is a concern, and I wanted someone who is struggling to know that they have a community who would help.”
