Project Name/Description:
For Luyanda Sambane, the journey to becoming a pastry chef began with curiosity, creativity and a deep love for creating lifelong memories through the art of food. What started as a childhood fascination with cooking shows saw him recognised as the top hospitality student in matric and has now set him on a path for even more career success after he was awarded a scholarship to continue specialising in patisserie at the International Hotel School in Johannesburg. “When I was finally awarded a scholarship, it felt like confirmation that I was exactly where I was meant to be. It reminded me that food is not simply a career choice for me; it is my purpose. “Choosing hospitality studies was an easy decision because it allowed me to explore what I loved most. Through both cooking and baking, I discovered a way to express myself creatively while bringing joy to others. What started as an interest soon became a calling. I learnt that hospitality is ultimately about people and creating meaningful experiences through service.”
