Immigration law is increasingly in the media spotlight. As managing director and owner of a full-service law firm, Vongani Caven Babane operates at the intersection of client rights and systemic administrative inefficiencies. The dynamic attorney is often called upon by clients to assist in a variety of complex and costly immigration battles under significant time pressure. Thanks to his skills, many clients have narrowly escaped certain deportation as he works tirelessly to assist. “Those clients really put their trust in you; sometimes we have to put in hours at the airport just to resolve a case and have the authorities understand a matter,” he says. “Immigration is one of the areas that I enjoy, along with estate planning, because it feels like the change you are making is meaningful.” Vongani, who is a graduate of the University of Venda, employs a team of four legal professionals who are all under the age of 30. “Sometimes the clients have their doubts because you are young,” he laughs. “But young people go the extra mile and work hard.”
