Maud Sybil Langa, the executive head at Curro Holdings – Meridian Cosmo City independent school, cares deeply about the delivery of quality education, and always strives to create a positive learning environment for learners. Langa, who hails from Atteridgeville in Tshwane, has been in her position since 2017 when she joined the school. She admits to being inspired by the passion of her learners and is keen to help shape their future prospects. Langa has been an educator for the past 25 years. She was a primary school educator for 10 years before becoming head of department for three years, a deputy principal for three years and then principal. “Education was not even in my radar as part of my career choices. Medicine and law were my other options. I fell in love with the art and practice of teaching and have always wanted to excel,” Langa says. Langa, who is also a gifted speaker, dreams of opening her own school so she can incorporate and practise all the knowledge acquired during her teaching years. She says women should be taking their dreams to new frontiers and apply their skills to uplift communities.
