Bonolo Mmutsi Banda’s entrepreneurial thirst knows no quenching, something that can be attributed to her go-getter attitude and passion for selling. Banda founded LeePoultry (Pty) Ltd in November 2022, largely supplying eggs to the local community of Rocklands.

The young small-scale egg farmer hopes to one day expand her farm and be able to distribute her products to the whole country. “In future, as an aspiring entrepreneur and young farmer my biggest dream is to grow production and supply more eggs to even bigger markets around the country, add about seven thousand hens to increase productions and have land and structure secure enough to sustain my business,” she says.

Banda fell for the idea of starting an egg farm while reading magazines and decided to embark on it as a way of creating economic opportunities for herself.

“I noticed that poultry farming might work for me as it does not really require much to start. The motivation behind that idea was that I wanted to create something from the ground up and be the first young female to make a mark in my community,” she relates.

Banda also intends to hire more women as she grows her business, convinced that this will be an inspiring symbol to all women that they too can succeed and work together in business.
