Project Name/Description:
Co-Founder – South African Students Career Show
Bridget Nwovhe has dedicated the prime years of her life to rewriting the narrative for rural learners, linking them with career opportunities and setting them up for a brighter future. As the co-founder of South African Students Career Show, she gets to live her passion of providing the much needed mentorship and career advice for high school learners. Nwovhe, in addition, does public speaking and hosts literacy projects to promote a culture of reading and writing around her village. The writer-poet also runs an online group with the hope of turning it into an official organisation that focuses on mental health, GBV and education.
“We are in a digital era that does not favour everyone, especially those in villages. Through writing and reading programmes, we are slowly changing the situation,” states Nwovhe.
Nwovhe has a string of achievements under her belt. In 2017 she published a collection of poems titled Calendar’s Time. Furthermore, she was selected as a Black Woman in Science Fellow, Woman of Stature Global Awards Finalist, Influential Woman of the Year, Global Good Governance 2022 winner in Nigeria and one of the 50 Most Memorable Women of 2022. She was also listed among the 2022 Sunday World Unsung Heroes, a celebration of young people committed to leadership, change and impact.
