Dr Matshidiso Moleko, a mathematics education lecturer in the department of mathematics, natural sciences, and technology Education at the University of the Free State, has been making a significant impact in her field for over six years.  

Her role involves teaching mathematics education modules to undergraduates and guiding postgraduates. 

Dr Moleko’s influence goes beyond the classroom through her leadership in high-impact teacher-community projects. One of her key projects is Universal Design for Learning in Mathematics Classrooms. This initiative focuses on enhancing teacher capacity for inclusive and accessible mathematics education. By equipping educators with tools to cater to diverse learners, the project aims to create sustainable learning environments.  

Internationally, Dr Moleko drives collaboration with the South Africa-USA Collaboration for Content and Pedagogy Stimulation in the Foundation Phase. This project develops innovative teaching materials for foundational mathematics education.  

In the intermediate phase, Dr Moleko’s SA-USA Primary Math Teachers Content and Pedagogy Stimulation in the Intermediate Phase project targets teacher training institutions. The focus is on enhancing educators’ mathematics knowledge and content expertise. This effort ensures teachers are well-prepared to navigate the intricacies of teaching mathematics during this crucial stage of learning.
