To Fikile Ndaba, the township is a gold mine of economic opportunities. This conviction has turned her into a township-driven businesswoman who runs her own accounting firm that serves the township market. She realised that township businesses needed an accounting firm with tailor-made services that understand the challenges they face on a daily basis.
“I became an entrepreneur after I was unfairly dismissed, where I was working holding a managerial post. And that is when I decided to follow my path of being an entrepreneur and I never looked back,” says Ndaba.
When her accountancy business started making profit, she used the money to start a pie store in Rustenburg, North West, which is called Fifi and Son’s Pies.
Ndaba reveals that her journey of being an entrepreneur has turned amazing, although it was not an easy road, especially since she was used to having a stable job.
For South Africa to overcome the crisis of youth unemployment, Ndaba believes it must produce good leaders who will lift township businesses and support them as there are already established businesses in townships that only need to be propelled further.
