“My field tells stories, connects audiences, shares information, shapes perception and brings about change by transporting people into different worlds, cultures and experiences,” narrates Helen Namponya. “My work also has the potential to raise awareness about important issues, amplify voices that need to be heard, and foster positive change. I’ve experienced this first-hand, and it ignites my soul,” she adds. 

Helen Namponya holds a BA Honours degree in film and visual media. She is a multifaceted media practitioner with interests in research, production, copywriting, broadcasting and directing. Her profile includes being a programming and social media coordinator at Central Media Group’s OFM, an alumni engagement officer as well as graduations coordinator at the University of the Free State.   

“Whether scripting or writing copy, conducting interviews or exploring innovations, there is always something new to learn and explore. I am happy to give a voice to diverse perspectives and celebrate human experiences.”  

Namponya is privileged to have interviewed and worked with some prominent people in her career in various roles, including being the head writer for Basadi in Music Awards and moderating the Standard Bank Top Women’s Conference.
