Founder – Mtswako Immune Booster
At the heart of the Covid-19 lockdown when businesses were folding, a business dream was germinating in the heart of a young woman in the Free State. Her name is Keketso Mokgothu, a risk-taker and dreamer who was honoured as a Sunday World Unsung Hero in 2022 for her entrepreneurial mindset.
Mokgothu started her agro-processing business, Mtswako, in 2020 as the pandemic decimated lives and livelihoods. Mtswako is about processing natural ingredients that produce a natural immune booster, which has passed quality assessments. Mokgothu says her product has health benefits and is safe for human consumption.
Mokgothu completed the 2023 Food Lover’s Market Seeds of Change Supplier Development Programme, which means Mtswako is now available at all Food Lover’s stores nationwide. Other retailers such as Spar also stock the immune booster. Mtswako has grown aggressively in popularity among Mokgothu’s followers, resulting in her being nicknamed “Dr Mtswako”, a title that speaks to how essential to their health the mix is.
“Having your own business is part of job creation and there are many opportunities for the youth in this country,” Mokgothu notes. She recommends that young people should volunteer so as to gain the necessarily skills to climb the economic ladder.
