Founder – A Step to Brilliance Extra Classes
Kelebogile Lechwano is the founder and programme manager of A Step to Brilliance Extra Classes, an initiative aimed at fostering the culture of academic excellence in township schools while generating revenue for herself. Lechwano holds a Bachelor of Technology in Language Practice from the Central University of Technology, and describes A Step to Brilliance as an academic and social service that assists primary school learners with homework, mental maths, creative writing and life skills activities.
“We have tutors working on casual basis, which includes a foundation phase tutor who assists with the after-school programme, the Sesotho tutor and the mathematics tutor who provides maths lessons to our learners,” says Lechwano, adding that the tutorials have propelled her learners to take a step to brilliance in their schoolwork.
The enterprising education advocate and teacher has earned a mention in various awards platforms. To mention a few, she was nominated as one of the National Youth Development Agency 2021 Trailblazers and scooped the Runner-up position at the Township Entrepreneur Alliance business pitch competition for emerging entrepreneurs.
“With , growth,” Lechwano hopes, “A Step to Brilliance Extra Classes will employ tutors who will assist with natural science and social science subjects as these subjects seem to be a challenge for our primary school learners.”
