Project Name/Description:
Owner – Chivite Panel Beat and Respray
At just 26, Tsakane Baloyi is making a name for herself in the traditionally male-dominated automotive industry. Baloyi is the sole owner of a Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprise named Chivite Panel Beat and Respray that is endorsed by the Winterveltd Enterprise Hub Automotive.
Describing herself as vibrant, hardworking and innovative. Her journey began at the age of seven, working alongside her father and absorbing the intricacies of the automotive trade. Building on that early exposure to empower herself administratively, she recently graduated from the prestigious Gordon Institute of Business Science through the ExpandYourBiz Programme.
“Running a panel beating company as a woman involves navigating both the opportunities and challenges that come with breaking gender norms in a traditionally male-dominated sector. It requires determination, resilience, and a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the industry. Women may face challenges like stereotypes, unequal opportunities, or a lack of representation in leadership roles.” Baloyi does acknowledge there are many women who have successfully navigated the industry, contributing to design, engineering, marketing and other areas.
“Progress is being made, but there’s still work to do to ensure equal opportunities and a more inclusive environment.”
