Professor Muthelo’s academic achievements in the health profession speak volumes that can only go on to inspire more young women to follow in her footsteps.

She has in her career focused on critical research interests, such as women’s health, and occupational, climate change on health outcomes and mental health. Throughout her career, Muthelo has published more than forty-five articles, and three book chapters in peer-reviewed journals, both nationally and internationally. She is also a regular when presenting at conferences, locally and abroad.

She has delivered conference presentations in countries such as the US, Brazil, France, Norway and Sweden, as well as eight papers at national conferences.

Muthelo says: “Every woman has the potential to thrive academically and professionally, though the journey is not always smooth. It is marked by challenges and demands steadfast determination. However, this path is also rich with exceptional opportunities for personal growth and accomplishment.”

Her qualifications in the nursing profession have been attained from some of South Africa’s reputational learning institutions, such as a Bachelor of Curations from the University of Limpopo, she achieved a master’s and PhD in Nursing from the same institution. She has also studied at Tshwane University of Technology and Stellenbosch University. Among her awards is the prestigious vice-chancellor’s award, for the best overall female researcher at the University of Limpopo.
