Health and Safety/Women in Uniform

Nominee's Province:
Kwazulu-natal

Project Name/Description:
Nurse and Founder of Khanya Health and Wellness Organisation

More info:

Her decades of experience in the nursing profession have seen her community benefit, and those benefits continue to this day.

She has been involved in community development work as a volunteer and has been a board member of the non-governmental organisation, Sacred Heart’s Children’s Home in Umsini in Port Shepstone.

Yet, Dlamini-Zulu believes there is still more work to be done.

Besides the demands of her day job in the nursing industry, she has also advocated for the rights of farm workers, and has assisted with the provision of basic needs such as soup, porridge and clothes, donated by the Thandabantu HIV and AIDS NGO in Port Shepstone.

Her recognition includes the nomination as a nation builder of the year in 2005, at Ray Nkonyeni Municipality in Port Shepstone.

Dlamini-Zulu is the founder of Khanya Health and Wellness Organisation, which started in 2021.

Last year she started a soup kitchen, serving more than ninety kids across her village.

She says: “I am involved with several activities, meant to benefit the community. These include working closely with children, assisting and giving skills to child-headed homes, food gardening, assistance with food parcels and clothing.”

Dlamini-Zulu says they also have programmes dedicated to the empowerment of young men and helping the elderly.
