At 36 years old, Dr. Lutendo Muremi has made her name for herself in the academic space and professional field of engineering in South Africa. Having grew up with her granparents who earned their living through selling fruits in the streets taught her to work hard and instilled Christian values at a very early age which shaped her principles. Her academic journey is closely tied to the University of Johannesburg (UJ) where she completed all her academic qualifications from a National Diploma to PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. She is now a senior lecturer and researcher at UJ. Her area of focus is condition monitoring and degradation analysis of surge protection devices. Her work combines advanced data analytics, artificial intelligence and material characterisation to improve the reliability of modern power systems. Her contribution is well documented in the renewable energy integration, grid stability solutions, and sustainable agricultural power applications.
