Dr. Sikhulile Mtseftwa, who is affectionately known as “Khuls” does not regret having retired from her full-time job in an investment company. Although she had never dreamt of owning a business venture, she and her late husband started and managed a company that specialised in pension fund investigations and business transformation. She bought the company she owns and manages now, Swatek Defence and Aerospace (SDA), which was known as Swatek Electrical CC. She sees this as the biggest milestone in her business career. Her company specializes in the design of quality wiring harnesses, military dashboards, and battery boxes, and provides electrical solutions to military, aerospace, and aviation, which are used locally and internationally. The untimely death of her husband in 2021 shuttered her, but she never looked back. Her business is operating in a highly male-dominated military sector. She is the only African woman who runs a long-standing company that predates post-apartheid South Africa with an esteemed global reputation.
