A nurse with over three decades of experience, Elmarie has established herself not only through her healthcare service but also pastoral duties. When she is not in a hospital ward, Elmarie can be found at Jehovah Shammah Family Church, where she aims to empower communities and create lasting change. Her foundation was established in January 2024, named after her late father, to honour his name and keep it in remembrance, through meaningful work in the community. Further, she presents a show at a local online radio station. Her foundation has had an impact in the community through programmes such as She-Ready Teen Club for girls, job readiness training, community awareness campaigns, and the launch of computer literacy training, equipping individuals with essential digital skills, unquestionably needed in the modern world. “My work focuses on uplifting individuals through education, mentorship, and collaborative partnerships, believing that transformation begins when people are given tools, opportunity, and encouragement. My leadership is rooted in faith, compassion, and the conviction that no one is beyond the reach of positive change,” she says. A Across her community and surrounding areas, it’s known that her dedication has touched both young people and the elderly, fostering unity, purpose, and self-worth in the communities she serves. She concludes: “When we uplift a community, we plant seeds of hope that grow for generations. Empowering one person can transform an entire community.”
